Trekking in West Sea Canyon, Mount Huangshan

We took the route into Mount Huangshan (Yellow Mountain) from the north via Taiping, a cable car terminal that delivered us to Pine Forest Peak in the northwestern corner of HuangShan.

On the summit, trails lead south and east into the mountains.  Our trek started from here, from Paiyunting towards Baiyun Hotel.  Stoped at and Feilai Rock and Guangming Summit.

The Baiyun Hotel was a perfect resting place for trekking on this route — USD 65, reasonably-priced and reasonable quality, and well-located both for ending the hike today, it was close to the wester part of the valley to view the splendid sunset, and for climbing up the Guangming Summit for sunrise the next morning.

The trek for West Sea Canyon was about 5 hours. Basically it started in the summit area and you descended to the bottom of the gorge before leaving the mountain area.

On the third day, we stayed overnight in Hongcun Village, it was at the foot of the mountain, the whole town distributed like a “cow”, which made it one of the wonders in the world culture heritage. The famous film”Crouching Tiger” was made here.

Another attraction worth to see was Hu Kaiwen Ink Stick Factory in Tunxi. Read a good article writen by Scottshangguan, for his trip to Hu Kaiwen Ink Stick Factory.
