On August 16th, 2009, I went to Xing’an county for the Grape Festival. Xing’An is located in the North of Guilin, about 1.5 hours driving.

But unfortunatly, the festival finished on August 12th. It was a pity. The only compensation was visiting famous attractions in Xing’an. I heard of the Ling Canal before, but no time to visit, I could visit it this time.

Ling Canal is 34 km long. It is the oldest canal in the world and is one of the three ancient Chinese Grand Irrigation Works. It is the embodiment of the Chinese people. The canal was once an important means of transports serving the region before railways and roads were constructed. This canal still serves a purposes by irrigating about 2700 hectare of agricultural land.

The water is clean and clear, I walked across the embankment to fell the good water. Though Ling Canal is famous, but it has not been a tourism site, so less people go there for visiting, it is quiet there. Luckly, I saw two Germany people visiting there, I felt a little surprise, I asked them how to know the Ling Canal, they showed me a book called “Lonely Planet”. Ha, a perfect guid book. I admire their independency and own exploring ability. I should study from them.

After my happy visiting, time was at 3:00p.m, I needed to say goodbye to Xing’an, I still wanted to visit Cat Mountain and Merryland, but not enough time. I would be back.
