Tipping Policy in China

Dear Sara,

We are at home in Germany again since one hour and it is time to thank you for your perfect organisation. Everything you promissed happened without any delay. You made a great job! The only missing we feel is your face. We never met you and never we got a picture. Perhaps you are wiiling to send a photo from yourself.

The trip through China was exiting and we made many experiences. Nevertheless our "chinese" son means we had no chance to see behind the fences and faces. And we wouldn't understand your culture. But perhaps we got a little touch and feel about your unbelievabel country, people, minorities, landscapes, towns and their developments etc. And when our son will stay in China - and it seems so - than we will come back soon. So again: Thank you for your patient and the excellent organisation. Very kind regards

Dear Nancy, We enjoined our trip in Shanxi, the van very good, the driver and the guide good. The food: In cities the breakfast were very good. The breakfast in the Flower hotel in the mountains is still before the cultural revolution. The food is fair, but the atmosphere and the dining time (6:00 to 08:00). The breakfast in Pingyao bad. The lunch in Datong very poor, dish of earth egg with rice (10 RMB per lunch?) The lunches on Friday 13.7 and Sunday 15.7 very good. The lunch in Pingyao on Monday 16.7 poor (10RMB?). The lunch in Pingyao on Tuesday 17.7 fair (15 RMB?). I also enjoined exchanging emails with you and with Libby. Thank you and thank Libby.

Hi Nancy
Thank you too for all your organization and help with our wonderful holiday in China. We had a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoyed everywhere we went.

Beijing – Our guide, Bonnie, had good English and great knowledge of the places we went too. She was wonderful in taking my husband for a massage as he was suffering from a very sore neck. She also put us right into the correct carriage on the train and asked the guard to advise us when we were coming into Datong. Our driver was very good and we enjoyed our time with them both. Unfortunately, due to the holiday, Beijing sights were very crowded but we still enjoyed ourselves. We loved The Temple of Heaven, with all the older Chinese citizens, who responded to us so warmly . The hotel was very good and the food at the hotel and the lunches were very good too. My only negative comment on Beijing would be that I think the Hutong Company used was not good. We walked on our final day around the Back Lake where another Hutong Company were taking people around and I think the area around the Back Lake is much nicer place to go.

Datong and Pingyao – Our guide Anna was there to meet us when we arrived at the station. She was waiting right next to our carriage. The hotel in Datong was very good. Our driver was very good too. Anna also had good knowledge and her English was good too. We loved the places we went to and enjoyed the town of Pingyao. The food at the Guest House was excellent. Overall the food was good. We noted other Guest Houses in Pingyao and wondered how you chose the one you did. Anna took us to the plane.
