Night Views of Chongqing

Chongqing Night Views

The evening scenes in Chongqing are splendid and beautiful. The city's unique geography has made it famous in China and overseas.

The city is built on the side of Xiaobashan Mountain with the two rivers meeting at its foot. On the top of the mountain, you can not only enjoy the charming natural view by day, but can also enjoy the wonderful evening light scenes.

When night falls, the city is transformed into a sea of lights. Decorative lights, lanterns, roadside lamps, bridges, and towers all combine together forming a myriad of twinkling lights, each one representing one part of Chongqing city, some the past and others the present. The city seems to never sleep, remaining always awake and wary of the looming mountains surrounding it.

While two rivers encircle the city, bridges crisscross connecting landmasses. In the daytime the city lies in the shadow of the mountains while the rivers sparkle in the sunlight. Boats chug here and there, some filled with merrymakers and others with sweaty working, together forming one part of the hustle and bustle of city life. Seen from a distance, the city appears almost like a palace floating on the water.

Pipa Mountain, Erling Park and "Yikeshu" (A Tree) on South Mountain are some of the famous scenic spots of the mountain city of Chongqing, and can be enjoyed day and night.
