Yunshanping Meadow

Overview

On its eastern slope the Jade Gragon Snow Mountain Tourist Cableway, the Yunshanping Meadow Cableway and a ski site have been built. The cableway starts at a spot 3,356 meters above sea level in a primeval forest, and ends at a terrace on the snow mountain 4,506 meters above sea level. The total length is 2,968 meters, with a vertical difference of 1,150 meters. Now it is the cableway with the highest altitude of its kind in the world. Further more, Yunshanping Meadow Cableway offers amazing mountains views and snowy scenery.

Naxi Script

Yunshanping is "Wuluyoucuige" in Naxi language, which means the place for lovers die for their love.

Naxi tribe is one of China's most interesting ethnic minorities. Scattered mainly around Yunnan Province, with small settlements in Sichuan and Tibet, they were first visited by Western ethnologists in the early part of the 20th century and have been studied and written about ever since. There are about 280,000 Naxi and most live in Lijiang Autonomous County.

The Naxi have a culture that's rich and diverse with their own music, art and most unique of all, their thousand-year-old pictographic writing system which is similar to hieroglyphics. The Naxi language is also the only remaining pictographic written language in use.

San Duo Festival

The Sanduo Festival, usually in early-March, is a traditional Naxi festival when the Naxi go horseracing, perform the Alili dance and have a good time. People flood to the Yufeng Temple to take in the famous Wanduo Chahua, a Camdlia tree Crelated to tea trees that's reputedly over 500 years old and blooms with over 10,000 blossoms.
