Zhuhai is a beautiful seaside city. The statue of fisher girl has become the symbol of Zhuhai, which located at the scenic Xianglu Bay.

 

Fisher girl is very beautiful with a little shy, she stands at the charming Xianglu Bay in an elegant pose, and raising a bright pearl with both hands high in the air, symbolizes Zhuhai's brightness.The statue was designed by a famous chinese sculptor, Panhe. The granite with 8.7 meters high and 10 tons in weight.

Fisher Girl Statue is situated at Xianglu Bay, in the middle of Qing Road. The surrounding scenery is very beautiful, and Shijingshan Mountain Scenic Area which is one of the popular tourist sites also lies in this area.

 

Beautiful legend of the fisher girl

 

Zhuhai Fisher Girl Statue is well-known because of its affecting legend. Long time ago, there was a fairy maiden, she was attracted by the charming scenes of Xianglu bay, and she descend to the earth so that she could enjoy the beautiful scenery.

 

She made a dicision to disguise herself as a fisher girl, weaving nets and searching for pearls to support herself. She was so kindness and always used her knowledge and magic to help villagers, so she was loved by all the villagers. One day she met a young and honest fisherman, called Haipeng, they fell in love.

 

Unfortunately, Haipeng listened to a dwarf’s calumny and demanded the fisher girl to give him her bracelet as proof of her love. She explained the important of the bracelet tearfully: She was the South Sea Dragon King’s daughter before she descended to the earth, her father arranged eight mistresses to avoid her escape, and every mistress gave her a bracelet.

 

She would die if she even removed one. However, Haipeng thought it just a lie and turned to leave. At last, The fisher girl removed her bracelet fiercely in order to prove her deep love for him, but died in his arms immediately. Haipeng was bitterly remorseful and cried all day and all night.

 

His great sorrow moved immortal Jiu Zhou Huan oldster. One day he came and told Haipeng the way to bring the fisher girl back to life. One magical resurrection grass lived on the Jiu Zhou Island can save her,but this grass must be fed by man’s blood everyday.

 

Haipeng grew it with his blood as the instruction. Days turned to years, and the grass was finally grown up and saved the fisher girl. Henceforth, the fisher girl became a true mortal. On their wedding day, she found a gigantic and magical pearl at the seashore with all fisher girls in the village. In gratitude, the fisher girl presents the precious pearl to the immortal oldster with both hands.
