The Liangyuan Park
Liangyuan Park, Collectively referred to the residence of Liang clan located at
Foshan, is mainly composed of architectural complex located at various sites,
such as "Twelve Stone Rooms", "Qunxing Thatched Hall ", "Fenjiang Thatched Cottage", "Hanxiang Inn", etc, presenting a grand scale.

Its principal architecture is located at the Xianfeng Ancient Path of Songfeng Road. Liangyuan Park was constructed in a phased manner (construction period of about 40 years) during Jiaqing and Daoguang periods of Qing Dynasty by four local personalities, all of whom were poets, calligraphers and painters, i.e. Liang Airu, Liang Jiuzhang, Liang Jiuhua and Liang Jiutu(relationship of uncle and nephew). As an example of scholars' parks located at Lingnan Mountainous Region (particularly referred to Five Mountains located at south China) in Qing Dynasty, it features delicate configuration, complex buildings of residences, ancestral halls and diversified parks of Lingnan style, presenting an elegant pattern. However, the park's composition, rather than sticking to one pattern, pursues kinds of elegant, unartificial and picturesque park charm.

In addition, the Park is characterized by a complete style of local architectures. Inside the Park, there are clustered fruit trees, beautiful flowers, rounding waterways and waterfronts covered by pines and willows, thus turning it into a unique park of amorous charm in the water-surrounded Lingnan regions. Especially, as exclusively integrated by its various peculiar stones in a diversified fashion, the Park is famous far and near for one of the four famous parks in Guangdong Province. However, this famous Park was on the brink of oblivion as of the early days of the Republic of China. In 1982, Foshan municipal Party Committee and government initiated the salvage and restoration of the existing Qunxing Thatched Halls, with a view of its historical and artistic value as well as enjoyment. In 1990, the Park was listed as the provincial key protection unit of historical and cultural relics. Then, in 1994, with the aim to restore the Park with its total area of 21260 sq.m, a large-scale comprehensive restoring project was triggered, which adhered to the principle of "restoring the age-old as the age-old" for the purpose of retuning the Park's essence.
