Foshan Renshou Temple

Foshan Renshou

Renshou Temple, founded in 1925, is located at the Zumiao Road of Chancheng District. It was initially founded by Tantra, then converted into Zen. As a rule, it serves as a place for teaching Buddhist mitzvah to the Buddhists from Foshan and nearby regions.

The exotic pagoda, where Xuyun rabbi presided the opening ceremony in 1938, features Chinese-style 7-tiers 8 angles tower. The tower was built-in by Tibetan epigraphic plaque. Inside the tower, there is an earthen female Buddha's statue coated by red and green jewelry, which was molded from Shiwan's Guanhua Furnace via personality Pan Yushu. In December 1993, Foshan government officially approved to restore Renshou Temple for the sake of Foshan's Buddhism Society.

According to the relevant policies and regulations of the state as well as the requirements of Foshan government, Foshan Buddhism Society and Religious Affairs Bureau jointly set up a "Renshou Temple Reconstruction Preparatory Commission" so as to take charge of the entire reconstruction project, and invite Zhaopu, chairman of the National Buddhism Society, etc,

to assume the honorary director and advisor of the commission. The reconstructed Renshou Temple will keep the incorporated features of Zen and Tantra so as to practice together.
