International Beer Festival

 

It is the grandest beer assembly in Asia featuring the Oriental characteristics and integrating tourism, economy, trade, science, technology and sports. The festival is mainly held at the Beer City in the Stone Old Man National Tourism and Holiday Resort. International Marine Festival

 

Qingdao is an important marine scientific research base of China. The International Marine Festival is held in mid July every year, with the construction of the seaside tourism city as the objective, and "Welcoming the marine century and creating the blue splendor together" as the slogan, so as to display the marine culture and stress on internationalization, publicity and recreation. During the festival, many large activities will be held, such as the opening ceremony, joint performances, marine culture recreational activities, marine scientific and technological activities, marine sports activities and so on .

 

Halyun Nunnery Sugar Ball Fair

 

During the development of Qingdao, many temple fairs were formed. Of them, Haiyun Nunnery Sugar Ball Fair is one of the most famous. This fair is held between the 16th day to 18th day of the first lunar festival every year, lasting three days. During the fair, tourists can see various kinds of folk art performances, and buy local handicrafts and products, of which sugar balls are best received by customers.

Zhanqiao Pier

The Pier, or Zhan Qiao, which appears on Tsingtao beer bottles, has been a landmark icon for more than a century. It is one of the most popular places in Qingdao to go for a stroll. Built in 1891 as a 440 meter long military pier jutting out into Qingdao Bay, that stretches into the sea and was the first wharf in Qingdao. It features a pavilion above the water, named "Huilan Pavilion", at the end of the pier.

 

The pier itself was built in 1891 during the time when Qingdao was a German colony. The pavilion at the end was built in 1930.
