    Nanning is located in the southern part of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, 160 km from the border with Vietnam.

As the provincial capital of Guangxi and the Chinese gateway to Vietnam, Nanning has built up a comprehensive transportation network .

By plane: First built in 1962 and expanded in 1990, the Nanning civil airport now operates flights to more than 20 cities including international flights to Hongkong and Hanoi, Vietnam. The airport lies 32 kilometres south of the city and can be reached by airport shuttle bus, which departs from the CAAC ticket office near the railway station. A taxi trip to the airport can cost over RMB100.

By train: Trains conveniently connect Nanning with Hanoi (T5; 15hrs); Beijing (T6; 30hrs); Guilin (T902; 7hrs); Chengdu (K142; 39hrs) and Beihai (K907; 4hrs). There are also three trains daily heading for Pingxiang (4hrs), the border to Vietnam. The Nanning railway station is at the north end of Chaoyang lu roundabout.

By bus: Train and long-distance bus stations are within 100m of each other at Chaoyang Lu's northern end, near the CAAC ticket office and airport shuttle bus stop. There are now six long-distance bus stations in Nanning with frequent buses to cities like Guilin (475km; 4 times daily; RMB78); Liuzhou (262km; 18 times daily; RMB50); Beihai (215km; 10 times daily; RMB45); Pingxiang (242km; twice daily; RMB45); Guangzhou (751km; twice daily; RMB180).

By water: There used to be a ferry service from Nanning to Wuzhou (36hrs) and Guangzhou (48hrs). But it seems the service has been suspended for the reason of lacking of passengers.

City transport: Public bus service in Nanning is convenient (6:15-23:00). Chaoyang Lu is covered along its length by city buses #2 and #6. Some buses are air-conditioned. The taxis in Nanning are painted red, starting price at RMB6-7. There are also several places to hire a bicycle. Ask at your local hotel or try the rental service on Chaoyang lu.

 

 

Detian Waterfall
The Detian Waterfall in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, it lies in a subtropical area along the Sino-Vietnamese border, and is the second largest transnational waterfall in the world.
