Anshun city along the Guiyang-Kunming Railway, 95 km from Guiyang is nicknamed ' The Belly of Qian (Guizhou province) and the throat of Dian (Yunnan province). It is the central city along the west tourist route. Early in the Warring States Period (403-221BC), this area was the state of Yelang Kingdom and became Anshun Prefecture in the Ming Dynasty. In 1958, a municipality government was set up there. Anshun is rich in tea. Its traditional craft of was printing has a history of more than 2,000 years. 50km around Anshun are the scenic spots of Huangguoshu Waterfall, Dragon Palace, Zhijing Cave, the Hundred-Li Azalea Belt , Maling River, etc.

Anshun is an old established trading center going back to he 13^th century and linking north and south China with areas as remote as Burma, via Kunming. The industrial base today had greatly expanded due to rich coal reserves that have provided an excellent energy source. Heavy machinery, aeroplanes, food proceedding, distilling and the leather industry are particularly important. Aeroplane manufacture was the direct result of Mao Zedong's decentralization of industry policy. An important industrial defence complex is located in the Anshun area. Anshun is praised for its excellent cuisine.

Approximately 45km west to Anshun and 138km from Guiyang, Huangguoshu Waterfall has a height of 74m and width of 81m. It is the largest waterfall in Asia. The water flows down to the Rhinoceros Pool, presenting a magnificent view. Around the waterfall is the Steep Slope Pool and more than 10 lesser waterfalls constitute a large watterfall complex. The waterfalls, which were formed in the subtropical karst limestone region ,are named as 'Karst Waterfall'.

Locatd 27km southwest of Anshun city, the Dragon Palace Caves sprawl over an area of 60,000 sq m. With its grotesque structure, the Dragon Palace presents a colorful scenery of under-ground scenery which can be toured by boat.

Tianxing Bridge, 6km form the Yellow Fruit Tree Waterfall includes the Tianxing Bonsai landscape, Tianxing Cave and Rock Forest merging grotesque mountains, rocks, Banyan trees, cactus, caves and waters into a whole. 

Located to the southern end of Liupanshui city, Suojia Ecology Museum is the first of this kind in China. It lies in a commune district embraced by mountains. Inside the commune inhabit some ethnic people with long angles as their hair dress. More than 4000 peole are distributed in 12 stockades. They preserve a rather old and simple tradition, such as the living mode with the men plowing and the women weaving, rich marriage and funeral protocol, music and dance with unique style, beautiful embroidery and wax printing.

Srawling over an area of 30 sq. km., Xianning Caohai is the largest plateau lake in Guizhou. With luxuriant water weeds, it is well known for sightseeing black neck cranes. It is a national natural reserve.

Located 150 km. from Guiyang to Bijic Highway, Baili Azalea, a grand natural park, occupies an area of more than 100 sq. km. From March to May cach year, brightcolored and lush flowers are everywhere, so called "Baili (hundred li )Azalea".

Maling River, also called Qinshui River or Mabai River., flows through Maling district, Xinyi county, southwestern Qian;hence the name "haling". It has deep and solitary riverbed with overhanging precipices and steep cliffs on each bank. The river has a high drop in elevation and numerous waterfalls, some of which are as high as a hundred metres, flowingdown with imposing manner and splendid sightseeing.
