Duyun

Duyun is a city in the central southern part of Guizhou Province, it is the capital of Buyi and Miao Minority Autonomous prefecture. The Guiyang/Liuzhou/Guilin railway stops at Dunyun.

 

The top attraction in Duyun is the Libo national reserve, famous for lakes, caves, crystal clear rivers and streams

 

There is a growing textile industry bases on ramie; wool; and cotton; some carpet production; chemical fertilizers; waxed paper; building materials and bridge sections largely for railways.

 

Libo Karst National Park
The Libo Karst National Park, a world natural heritage, includes the Libo Zhangjiang National Scenic Area, Maolan National Nature Reserve.

 

The Libo Zhangjiang National Scenic Area is composed of Greater Qikong, Lesser Qikong and Shuichunhe, it is mainly attractions of rivers, streams, waterfalls and virgin forest.

 

The Greater Qikong, which is 25 km from Libo, mainly consisits of primitive forests, canyons, underground streams and lakes; and the main toursit attractions include the Wind God Cave, Terror Canyon, and Di'e Palace.

 

The Lesser Qikong is 28 km from Libo, famous for the hills, rivers, forests and oddly-shaped rocks in this area.  The attractions are: Xiangshui River, Turtle Back Hill, Wild Boar Forest, Forest on Water, Heavenly Bell Cave, and Mandarin Duck Lake.

 

Shuichunhe River is 13 km long, exquisite and dangerously deep in many sections.  It is known as the '29 layers of waves and 9 shoals'.

 

The Maolan National Nature Reserve, 25 km from Libo, is the most concertrated, original and relatively stable karst primitive forest in the area, rarely seen in other areas at the same latitude extant in the world.  It is included in the "World Man and Biosphere Reserve Network" by the UNESCO in 1996. 

 

Characterized by the karst landforms and scenic spots, primitive vegetations and biological species, the nature reserve is a fascinationg scenic zone, featuring the combination of the karst landforms, dense forests and local customs and lifestyle.
