zhijin caveSmall passageways open up into giant room after room, where calcium deposits have created an otherworldly landscape of spectacular shapes and spirals, often reaching from floor to ceiling.

At around 10 km long and up to 150 m high, Zhijin Cave (admission fee Y 60) ranks as the largest in China and one of the biggest in the world.

Tickets to the site are steep but include a compulsory tour. If you're not traveling with a posse, this can mean a bit of a wait, as tours depart with a minimum of ten people.

While the tour itself is in Chinese only, you'll likely be glad to have someone around who knows the way back out of the maze of trails. The tour lasts for around three hours, possibly more.
