Gudong Waterfall
Overview
Gudong Waterfall is 25 km away from Guilin. The ancient forest area around the waterall covers about 1000 acres and features primitive forest. Six different sizes of waterfall are scattered on the slope of mountains.
Red maple forest is the major attraction for professional photographers and in late autumn each year. An excellent place for family holiday in a sunny day. Recommend outdoor activities include trekking on trails surrounding waterfall, boating in the crystal clear lakes, local farming activies in the countryside.
Public bus service available from Downtown Guilin to Gudong Waterfall, half day visit will be pretty enough.

The highlight is rocking climbing on waterfall, there are steps carving on rocks, hand rails for you to hold on, straw sandals to wear, water might be cold in early morning. It is so cool. The most awesome outdoor activity in Guilin!
Straw sandals: local people use stalks of threshed grain, weaving and braiding them into sandal, very good for trekking on waterfall, for straws are tighten when they are wet. They can also be a part of decoration hanging on your living room.
