Four inner lakes are Shahu Lake, Ronghu Lake, Guihu Park, Mulong Lake, which are all located in the downtown of city. After the complete in the year of 2000, the 4-lake area has been turned into a giant natural park. There are various bridges over lakes, all kinds of plants and pavilions on the banks. Nowadays, you can take a yacht along the 4 lakes to tour the famous Elephant Hill, Fubo Hill, Folded and Brocade Hill. Banyan Lake and Fir Lake are located in downtown Guilin . They are like two pieces of crystal embedded in the central part of the city. The origin of both parks dates back to Tang Dynasty when they were part of a city moat. As Guilin expanded to the south, the moat became a lake within the city area. Built in Song-Dynasty, Blue Ribbon Bridge (now Sun Bridge ) separates the lakes. The Cedar Lake was named after the cedar trees growing on the shore and the Banyan Part got its name because of a large banyan tree standing on shore near the 1,000-year-old South City Gate. The two lakes together were often referred to as Round Lake . A Zigzag bridges lead to the Mid-lake Isle , which is dotted with long corridors, waterside pavilions and ancient buildings. Mulong ancient water channel scenery area—Taking the Mulong Ancient Ferry, Old City-wall as main spots, the baoji Hill and Diecai Hill as background to show the city’s culture. Guihu Lake scenery area—Taking the natural and wild interests as special characteristics Ronghu Lake-Shan-hu Lake scenery area—To show the artistic Conception of “the city is in scenery while the scenery is in city”, taking the city’s space between hills and rivers as characteristics.
